NEWS FROM THE NORTH
A panorama of recent productions, fictions as well as documentaries. A display
of the variety of productions from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, from the three Baltic Republics, from the Netherlands and Belgium.
TRIBUTE TO HENRI STORCK, Belgian director (1907 – 1999)
He is, along with André Delvaux, the greatest Belgian director. His career
spread over more than 60 years, making documentaries and fictions, in turns.
MATTI IJAS SEASON, Finnish director
Considered, along with the Kaurismäki brothers, as the leader
of the Finnish cinema’s « Nouvelle Vague ».
ANDRES SÖÖT SEASON, Estonian director
The work of this documentarist searches the collective memory of Estonia.
TRIBUTE TO PAUL DRIESSEN
The most famous Dutch director of animation movies.
LITERATURE ET CINEMA
Opening in March 2003, the Paris’ « Salon du livre » will pay tribute
to the Flemish literature. The Festival, in collaboration with the Dutch Institute
in Paris and the Flemish delegation from Belgium proposes a selection of
works from the Flemish literature adaptated for the screen.
Some writers who will attend the « Salon du livre » will also come to Rouen.
DOGMA 95
Seven years after its creation by Lars von Trier, films and meetings to sum up
the situation. There will also be screenings of three documentaries by Jesper
Jargil on the subject.
A NIGHT OF NORDIC CRIME MOVIES
CINEMA IN LO W-SAXONY
Two feature films from the Low-Saxony Region in collaboration
with the Braunschweig Festival and the Pôle Image de Haute-Normandie.
FILMS FOR CHILDREN
Special screenings during the Festival and a tour in the towns of the area.
