Fille d'un pêcheur particulièrement autoritaire, Ingalo tente de se frayer un chemin dans un monde de violence peu porté au féminisme. Ce film s'inscrit dans un contexte social de l'Islande actuelle, sans pour autant être un film à thèse ou militant.
Ingalo is the daughter of a fisherman, a harsh man and a strict father. She tries to make her way in a world where violence is the rule and where there is little room for feminism. Without preaching, 'Ingalo' reflects the social situation in contemporary Iceland.
