Les aciéries Borch Møller sont dans la famille depuis quatre générations, mais Christoffer a décidé de quitter l’entreprise. Il s’est installé à Stockholm où il a épousé Maria, une actrice suédoise, et a acheté un restaurant. Après le suicide de son père, sa mère insiste pour qu’il revienne diriger l’affaire familiale. Il accepte à contrecœur, à la surprise de sa femme et de son beau-frère qui espérait prendre la suite. Pour sauver la compagnie, Christoffer se voit obligé de prendre des mesures drastiques et entre en conflit avec ses proches.
Christoffer, of the fourth generation of proprietors of the Borch Møller steel works, has decided to leave the family business. He now owns a restaurant in Stockholm, and is happily married to Maria, a Swedish actress. When his father commits suicide, his mother insists that he comes home run the family firm. He reluctantly agrees to do so, much to the surprise of his wife and his elder sister’s husband who had expected to take over. Christoffer is forced to take drastic steps to save the company from bankrupcy, resulting in clashes with his relatives and his wife.
