Juin 1941, premiers jours de la Guerre de continuation en Finlande. Les troupes finlandaises sont entrées dans le village de Reboly en Carélie soviétique. Le jeune lieutenant Eera Perkola et son détachement sont envoyés plus avant en territoire ennemi. Avec cette mission, les soldats découvrent la tragédie de la guerre. Cette expérience va bouleverser et changer les hommes. Kaarina, la fiancée de Perkola, est infirmière volontaire sur le front. Il se retrouvent brièvement à Reboly avant que les infirmières soient rapatriées en Finlande. Perkola apprend bientôt que la colonne de blessés et d’infirmières a été attaquée par les Russes. La guerre devient alors une bataille bien plus personnelle pour le jeune homme, persuadé de la mort de sa bien-aimée.
June 1941 - The first days of the Finnish Continuation War. Finnish troops have entered the village of Reboly in Soviet Karelia. Young lieutenant Eera Perkola and his detachment are sent further into enemy territory. With this mission, the soldiers discover what sort of tragedy war is. The experience shatters the men and changes them thoroughly. Perkola’s fiancée Kaarina is a volunteer nurse at the front. They meet briefly in Reboly before the volunteer nurses are sent back to Finland. News of a Russian attack on the column transporting the wounded and the nurses reaches Perkola, turning the war into a far more personal battle for the young man who is convinced that he has lost his loved one.
