1925. La capitale de la Norvège vient de changer de nom, Lénine est mort et le jeune écrivain Henrik Larsen demande Gert en mariage. Elle refuse. Du moins pour le moment... Alors Larsen se fait embaucher comme trappeur groenlandais et laisse sa “presque fiancée” au pays. Il partage une petite cabane avec Holm, un scientifique, et Randbaek, leur chef vulgaire et diabolique. Randbaek s’est juré de détruire Larsen. Le séjour au Groenland devient un combat pour rester en vie et maintenir les quotas de chasse. Et l’amour de Larsen pour Gert résiste.
It’s 1925. Norway’s capital has just changed its name, Lenin is dead, and the young writer Henrik Larsen has proposed to his girlfriend Gert. She refuses, at least for the time being... So Larsen signs on as a trapper with an East Greenland hunting company, leaving his “almost fiancée” behind. It is a life in a small hut, together with Holm, a scientist, and Randbaek, their vulgar and diabolical boss. Randbaek tries every trick to destroy Larsen. The stay in Greenland is a fight for survival, a fight to keep up hunting quotas and a fight over Larsen’s love for Gert.
